Salem Animal Shelter Makes 'Urgent Call' Amid Water Main Break (patch.com) — Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem briefly scrambled for donated water after a Highland Avenue water main break cut service needed for animal care and surgeries. Staff managed to keep the shelter open using local supplies until water service, though discolored, was restored later in the afternoon, and they thanked North Shore residents who rushed to help.

Salem Mayor's Night Out Offers Free Haunted Happenings Fun For Witch City Residents (patch.com) — Salem residents are invited to enjoy an early Halloween during Mayor's Night Out on Sept. 25, with free admission to many downtown attractions, trick-or-treating, and free parking at two city garages. Salem Launches Halloween Coloring Contest for 400+ Anniversary Celebration (rock929rocks.com) — Salem residents of all ages can join a Halloween-themed Luna coloring contest celebrating the city's 400+ anniversary, with entries due Oct. 20 and winners announced Oct. 27. Official pages are available online and at City Hall, the library, and other local spots, with submissions accepted at the Mayor's Office or Salem Public Library.

Salem Latest Community To Try And Keep Out Data Centers (iheart.com) — Salem officials are moving to ban data centers outright, after discovering a proposed IT facility in Shetland Park was actually planned as a data center. Mayor Dominick Pangallo has submitted an ordinance to block such facilities, citing environmental, utility, and legal concerns, even as the governor now requires local approval for large data center permits statewide.

Annabelle Has Creepy New Home In Salem (iheart.com) — A new Haunted Warren Museum has opened on Essex Street in Salem, bringing nearly 2,000 allegedly haunted or cursed objects, including the infamous Annabelle doll, to town. Created by entertainer Matt Rife and paranormal creator Elton Castee, the museum aims to offer a broader paranormal experience than typical witchcraft-focused attractions during spooky season.
