Patten, Driver Parks Work to Begin Thursday

Work at Patten Park begins Thursday, with Driver Park work following shortly thereafter.

SALEM, MA—Patten and Driver Parks are going to have a new look in the near future, as improvements to the parks are set to begin very shortly.

According to the City's BuildingSalem.com website, The city will be purchasing and installing loam and new waste receptacles. In addition, perennial and shrubs at both parks will be added.

Dominick Pangallo, Mayor Kimberly Driscoll's Chief of Staff, told Patch that the combined budget for the two projects is $22,500.

"Neighbors shouldn’t expect too much disruption from this work as it is primarily landscaping and related improvements, such as tree trimming and planting, mulching, and so forth," Pangallo told Patch.

Driver's planting bed is set to be widened and extended, as well as a new tree being planted, vine trellis and metal edging installed and stumps removed, according to BuildingSalem.

Cobble and metal edging, along with replaced benches, pruned trees and replenished stone will be a part of the Patten makeover.

Patten's work is set to begin Thursday, and is currently projected to last until May 24. Driver Park's work will begin shortly after memorial day, and has a timeline of between one and two weeks.
