Salem Blood Drive Planned In Spirit Of Halloween Season

North Shore residents can get a $10 e-gift card if they sign up and donate blood in Salem on Oct. 24.

SALEM, MA — A North Shore blood drive is trying to use the spirit of the season to get folks to donate while receiving a gift card.

SERVPRO of Marblehead, Peabody and Salem is offering the $10 e-gift card to those who donate blood, plasma or platelets during the upcoming community blood drive at the Mayor Jean A. Levesque Community Life Center on Monday.

The blood drive runs from 1 to 6 p.m. Those interested in the e-card can register in advance by calling 1-800 RED CROSS or by visiting here and entering the code "SERVPRO."

As part of the spooky season sell job organizers note that "50 percent of Americans like watching blood gets spilled in horror movies. What's really scary is only 3 percent donate blood each year."

Those donating are invited to put the gift card toward "some buttery popcorn or a refreshing drink with your next movie screening on us."
