Salem Book Swap, Terracyle Collection Planned For Next Week

SalemRecycles will host the event at the Jean A. Levesque Community Life Center on Sept. 23.

SALEM, MA — SalemRecycles will host its next Book Swap and TerraCycle collection day at the Jean A. Levesque Community Life Center on Bridge Street next weekend.

The event will run on Sept. 23 from 401 Bridge Street where residents can either bring books to donate or simply look for something interesting to read — the swapping part is not mandatory.

The Swap also accepts CDs, DVDs, video games, vinyl records (all in original cases), plus puzzles, greeting cards, and reusable bags. All items must be clean, dry, and mildew-free. Magazines, VHS tapes, or cassette tapes are not accepted.

"Too many useful items end up in our landfills," Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo said. "The SalemRecycles Book Swap is an opportunity for us to interrupt that cycle and to pass along many perfectly good items to others in the community to enjoy."

Items accepted for recycling include Swiffers, razors, oral care items, deodorant, Rubbermaid items and Brita items.
