Salem Contractor Gets Jail Time After Guilty Plea In Child Rape

Daniel Beauvais, 51, "repeatedly" raped a 10-year-old girl during visits to her home.

SALEM, MA -- A Salem home improvement contractor was sentenced to seven to nine years in state prison Monday. Daniel Beauvais, 51, had previously pleaded guilty to four counts of child rape, three counts of witness intimidation and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child on the day a jury was to have been selected for his trial in Lawrence Superior Court.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Beauvis repeatedly raped a 10-year-old girl on visits to her home on Eden Street in Salem. The girl, now 16, disclosed the incidents in 2016. In addition to the jail sentence, Beauvis will be on probation for nine years and will be required to wear a GPS bracelet and register as a sex offender when he is released.
