Salem Domestic Abuse Center Receives $2500 Gift From Newburyport Bank

Healing Abuse Working for Change serves 23 communities on the North Shore.

SALEM, MA — Newburyport Bank donated $2,500 to the Salem-based Healing Abuse Working for Change serving domestic abuse victims in 23 communities across the North Shore.

Healing Abuse Working for Change's mission is to create social change by taking action against the personal and societal patterns that lead to violence and oppression. The network provides services to victims so they can make independent choices about their futures and break harmful patterns.

"Sadly, domestic violence is on the rise in Massachusetts as reflected by a jump in both restraining orders and domestic homicides," said Lloyd L. Hamm, President and CEO of the Bank. "We've seen its cruel impact on individuals and families, and are acutely aware of the need for organizations to help those affected by it.

"HWAC has been doing just that for over forty years. They have a stellar reputation but are constantly in need of financial support to help deliver their services. We're very proud to be a part of that."
