Salem Firefighter Asking for Return of Stolen Helmet

The Salem Fire Department is asking for help to secure the return of Firefighter Mike Buonfiglio’s fire helmet.

The helmet was stolen from Engine 1 at headquarters on Lafayette Street on Friday night.

Anyone who has information about the helmet is asked to call (978) 744-1235.

In a Facebook post, Buonfiglio wrote that the person who stole it probably doesn’t know the value of the helmet or what the helmets mean to firefighters.

“This was something I was planning on having my whole career,” he wrote. “It’s something that means a great deal to us in our line of work. I hope that someone can realize that and return it.”
