Salem Halloween Survival Guide: Share Your Experiences
Places to stay? How to get around? Patch is putting together a Salem Halloween Survival Guide, and we want your input.

SALEM, MA — While Salem being New England's premier halloween destination is a blessing to many, flooding tourists and various city celebrations make traveling and staying in Salem during the month of October quite spooky.
Obviously, everyone knows the basics; take public busses, the train or the ferry; don't park downtown; bring your own toilet paper; take advantage of commuter parking near the visitor's center and Peabody museum if you have to drive.
Not only is parking a problem in Salem, cheap accommodation is extremely hard to come by. Even AirBNB's are going for an average price of $191 per night for two people during the weekend of Oct 30.

Halloween is a great time in Salem, but the influx of tourists can make staying in the city very haunting. Nobody knows that truth more than Salem's own residents.
We are looking for the Halloween secrets only the most experienced locals know. We are looking for information on travel, parking, accommodation, food recommendations and more. We want the "tricks of the trade."

You can submit your recommendations in two ways. Email joe.lipovich@patch.com with the subject line "Salem Halloween Survival Guide" and we may include them in our final survival guide. Additionally, feel free to include any halloween-themed photos in your submission which we would be glad to include. You can also include them in the comments section below or through Facebook messages.
We'll start you off with a quick tip: Find a hotel or AirBNB outside of the city, perhaps in Beverly or Peabody, and take public transportation into the city. You'll save yourself time and money.
