The Northeast Animal Shelter will have many of the 155 kittens and cats that arrived in the state looking for forever homes on Tuesday.

SALEM, MA — The Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem will have many of the more than 150 cats and kittens brought to the state for hopeful adoption this weekend.

The 155 kittens and cats arrived in New Bedford on Tuesday with many of them heading to the Salem shelter in advance of this weekend's "adopt-a-thon" Saturday and Sunday.

The felines were rescued from overpopulated shelters in Florida and flown to Massachusetts where they will be put up for adoption in Salem and other MSCPA-Angell shelters as part of the "Clear the Shelters" weekend.
