Salem Man With Criminal History Arrested In Connecticut Break-In
Ringo Souza allegedly used stolen cash and credit cards to go on a Mohegan Sun shopping spree.

LEDYARD, CT -- A local man is facing multiple charges in Connecticut after allegedly breaking into a motel room and then purchasing items with credit cards he stole at Mohegan Sun Casino. Ledyard Police charged Ringo Sousa, 33, of Salem, with second-degree burglary, criminal mischief, second-degree larceny of a motor vehicle, fourth-degree larceny, interfering with police, and criminal impersonation.
Police responded to a call from a woman staying at the Twin Trees Inn at 10:09 pm. The woman said someone had broken into her room and stolen about $1,500 in cash, credit cards and her car keys. The woman called police back as they were heading to the motel to report that her car was no longer in the parking lot.
Mohegan Sun Tribal Police located the car in their parking garage and arrested Souza when he walked back to the car with the keys and several items he had purchased with the woman's credit cards. When he was booked, Souza allegedly gave police a false name and tried to destroy a piece of identification in an attempt to hide his true identity.
