Salem Police Chief Paul Tucker Retires
Tucker is moving on to higher places as Salem's new state representative.

The Salem Police Department ended the year on a bittersweet note when they said goodbye to Chief Paul Tucker yesterday, Dec. 30.
Tucker retires after 32 years of service to the Salem community and 5 years as the city's police chief.
A Salem native, Tucker graduated from Salem High School in 1976. He then got his degree in criminal justice from Salem State College, his Master's degree from Anna Maria College in Paxton and a law degree from Massachusetts School of Law in Andover. He joined the Salem Police Department as a patrolman in 1983.
In November, Tucker was elected Salem's new state representative. He won with about 76 percent of the votes.
Tucker will start his role as a state representative in the new year.
"Leaving SPD today for the final time," Tucker posted Dec. 30 on his campaign's Facebook page. "Looking forward to new challenges!"
