Salem Police Logs: Man Found Passed Out Near Bewitched Statue, Man Found Collecting Coins from Fountain

SALEM, MA — The following are excerpts from the Salem Police Logs from Aug. 13 and 14. The information below does not indicate a conviction.
Aug. 13
2:14 a.m.: Randy Cuevas was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after Unit 22 responded to the Salem-Beverly bridge for a report of a fight.
3:05 a.m.: Officers found a man passed out on the grass by the "Bewitched statue." Officers woke the man and detected a strong odor of alcohol. He was unable to stand or speak. The man was placed into protective custody without incident.

6:07 a.m.: Police responded to the Museum Place Mall Fountain and found a man dressed with his shoes off and his feet in the water. The man related that he was homeless and looking for change in the fountain. Police advised the man that he was not to enter the fountain or take change from it.
7:54 p.m.: Police responded to Lafayette St. for a report of harassment. A woman related that she was having an ongoing issue with another female. She said that the woman's boyfriend paid her a compliment while in the store below her apartment. The woman later stated that the other woman called her boyfriend's cell phone stating that she was going to get the woman for hitting on her boyfriend. She also stated that she had a court date Monday with the woman for harassment and would like the report on file. Officers were not able to contact the other woman.

Aug 14
2:29 a.m.: Police responded to the Salem Common Gazebo for a report of several parties possibly using drugs. Upon arrival, officers noticed no drug activity but made contact with parties who were advised not to be in the gazebo at night. All were sent on their way.
2:55 a.m.: Police responded to Webb Street for a loud group in the area. The area was searched and no group was located.
