Salem Police, Mayor Urge Use of Public Transportation This Weekend
Planning on driving downtown this weekend? Officials suggest that you make other plans.

SALEM, MA — Were you planning on driving or parking downtown this weekend? Police are suggesting that you make other plans.
On its Facebook page Wednesday, the police department advised residents that traffic and parking will be very limited in Salem this weekend. Police suggested using the commuter rail to get into the city.
Mayor Kimberly Driscoll also suggested taking the train from Beverly, Lynn Gloucester or Chelsea as opposed to driving and parking in the city.

Among notable events this weekend are the beginning of the Derby Street Carnival, which lasts until Nov. 1, the Chowderfest Breast Cancer Benefit, Acoustic in the Air Fair at the Fountain Stage, the MDA Halloween Witch Ride and many more.
