Salem Police Mourn Loss of Canine

Salem police are mourning the loss of a canine, who had served the department since 2012 and responded to the Boston Marathon Bombing.

SALEM, MA — Police in Salem are mourning the loss of a Canine who had served the department for over four years.

On Tuesday, the Salem Police Department announced via Facebook that Police Canine Thor had unexpectedly passed away. Thor had been a member of the department since 2012, and had served alongside his partner Officer Jon Bedard.

Thor had been trained in patrol and explosives ordinance detection, and even responded to the Boston Marathon Bombings in 2013. In addition, Thor and Bedard worked countless events and responded to countless calls including located missing and wanted persons as well as suspicious packages.
