Police Chief Mary Butler told WBZ News that there have been no issues with Scialdone in his time with the department, but that possession of the drugs would be a break in the public’s trust.

Scialdone was released on personal recognizance after appearing in Lynn District Court on Thursday. His attorney said the officer has volunteered to enter a drug treatment program.
