Salem Police Seize Blank Credit Cards, Skimmer During Stop

A Mattapan man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on Congress Street in Salem last week.

SALEM, MA -- Police in Salem arrested Andy Baez, 26, of Mattapan, following a traffic stop on Congress Street last Wednesday. Baez, who was also wanted on an outsanding warrant in New Hampshire, was charged with possessing counterfeit and blank credit cards, possessing a device for manufacturing such cards, being a fugitive from justice and several moving violations. During the arrest, police found three phony credit cards, nine blank credit cards and a skimming device used to steal bank and credit card numbers from ATMs.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Baez pleaded not guilty last week. He is being held without bail as a result of the fugitive from justice charge.
