Salem Police Warn Of Solar Panel Scam Targeting Residents

SALEM, MA — Salem officials are warning residents about companies soliciting solar panel installation using a claim they are doing so in partnership with the city.

Officials said they have been getting reports from residents who say they have been approached by companies who claim to have a relationship with the city.

"While we encourage and need residents and businesses to install solar in order to meet our aggressive emissions reduction goals included in Resilient Together, our climate action plan, please understand that the city of Salem is not currently partnered with any solar installers or vendors, and any claims to the contrary are false," officials said on Monday.
