Salem Residents Receive Influx of IRS Scam Calls
Salem Police say they have received around 30 calls reporting IRS scams in Salem Friday.

SALEM, MA—Numerous residents in Salem have reported receiving scam calls from callers stating they were from the IRS Friday, according to Salem Police.
Melissa Saraiva of the Salem Police Department told Patch that the department has received around 30 reports from residents about the calls. Saraiva also told Patch that scammers have told potential victims that there would be a warrant out for their arrest if they hang up the telephone.
"It's all a big scam," Saraiva told Patch."Residents should just hang up the phone."

Residents reported that the callers instructed victims to purchase Wal-Mart cards, and transfer the information via the phone. Residents are urged to hang up the phone if they receive such phone calls.
