Salem Schools' Math Success Academy Aims To Boost MCAS Scores, Skills

The six-week session for sixth graders will be held at the Collins Middle School beginning on Monday.

SALEM, MA — Salem Public Schools is hoping a new six-week Math Success Academy will add up to improved MCAS scores and better-developed skills in the critical STEAM subject among the district's students.

The program for sixth graders will run after school at the Collins Middle School on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m.

Students will engage in small group lessons and tutoring provided by certified math teachers. The Success Academy is open to all SPS sixth-graders.

The program starts at 3:15 but the math programming is scheduled from 3:45 to 4:50 p.m. This allows for time for Saltonstall students to get to Collins prior to the academic enrichment portion of the program.

The program will provide free transportation for participants, after-school snacks, team-building activities, connections with peers and even prizes for attendance.

Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with space limited.
