Salem Seeks Principals For Four Of Its 12 Schools
Thomas Milaschewski will step down as principal of the Bates School at the end of the school year to pursue a EdD at Harvard.

SALEM, MA -- Salem Public Schools needs to fill four principals openings by the start of the next school year, following Monday's announcement of Bates Elementary School Principal Thomas Milaschewski that he will step down at the end of the school year. Milaschewski was accepted by Harvard University into a program to pursue a doctorates in Education. The district was already searching for principals for Salem High School, the Horace Mann Laboratory School and the Saltonstall School.
Salem will have 12 schools next year following the closing of the Nathaniel Bowditch School. That means a third of its principal positions need to be filled, barring anymore resignations. In Massachusetts, searches for administrators can be competitive, and many Massachusetts towns searching for principals for the 2018-19 school year have either filled their positions or are deep into their searches.
While the search for new leaders at Horace Mann and Saltsonstall have been ongoing, the Horace Mann and high school searches come later than usual in the school year.High School Principal David J. Angeramo announced late last month he would step down to become Associate Head of School at St. Mary's in Lynn.
