SALEM, MA — These Salem students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinctions at colleges, universities and schools across the nation.
Julia Pallazola was among 14 Hofstra University students who spent a week of their January break on the West Coast visiting top-tier technology firms such as Google and Meta as part of Hofstra in Silicon Valley, a program administered by the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Throughout the week, Pallazola met and networked with management teams, engineers, and other personnel at Oracle, Google, Meta, CrowdStrike, SoFi, and Sony. Activities included behind-the-scenes tours of the companies' state-of-the-art facilities as well as presentations, hybrid (Zoom and in-person) meetings, and panel discussions.

The January 2024 trip represents the fifth installment of the Hofstra in Silicon Valley program.

Hala Abusharkh was named to the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the fall semester. Abusharkh is in the photographic and imaging arts program.
Full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students at RIT are eligible for the Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400, and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.
Assumption University said Janalys Vlaun, Class of 2024, was named to the university's Dean's List for the fall 2023 semester. Students named to the Dean's List must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester to be included on the prestigious list, which is announced at the completion of the fall and spring semesters.
Nicole Delos Reyes was named to second honors on the Clark University Dean's List. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the fall 2023 semester.
Students must have a GPA of 3.8 or above for first honors or a GPA between 3.50 and 3.79 for second honors.
Curry College said Izzy Santana was named to the Fall 2023 Dean's List.
Emerson College student Lily Brown was named to the College's Dean's List for the fall 2023 semester. The requirement to make Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.
Brown is majoring in Journalism and is a member of the Class of 2025.
Carlos Campos, Catherine Hogan, Aiyana Lilly, Emily Dodge, Alex L'heureux and Sophia Trindade were named to the Emmanuel College Dean's List this fall with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The University of Hartford said Noah Thomas of Salem was named to the Dean's List for fall 2023.
Jimmy Espinal, Alexander MacTaylor and Brendan Sheehan were named to the WPI Dean's List. Espoinal is a member of the class of 2025 majoring in architectural engineering, MacTaylor is a member of the class of 2027 majoring in aerospace engineering and Sheehan is a member of the class of 2025 majoring in applied physics.
Among the members of the Eastern Connecticut State University Dean's List for fall 2023 is full-time student Yosselin Guerrero Badillo, a first-year student who majors in Exploratory - Undecided.
Jacob Dumont and Megan Danjou were named to the Stonehill College Dean's List with a GPA of 3.5 or better.
