Salem is Upgrading Payment Methods at the Museum Place and South Harbor Parking Garages
Those with automatic garage passes will no longer be able to use the old passes after November 6. Here is what you need to know.

SALEM, MA — Residents and visitors parking at the Museum Place and South Harbor parking garages will experience automated payment kiosks beginning Nov. 7, according to a city announcement Monday.
Those who park at garages will take a ticket at the entry gates, and should bring their ticket and payment to one of the payment kiosks before they return to their car to leave the garage, and are to present the ticket to the exit gate as you drive out. Drivers currently holding automatic garage passes will no longer be able to use old passes after Nov. 6, as the passes will not work with the updated gates.
To get new automated passes, drivers will need to visit the parking department offices at the Museum Place garage on New Liberty Street beginning on Oct. 3 on Mondays through Thursdays from 7 to 9 a.m. or 4 to 6 p.m.; or Fridays from 7 to 9 a.m.

According to the city announcement, kiosks will accept payment by most major credit cards, and most will accept cash. You can also pay using the City's mobile parking app Passport Parking, though not immediately on Nov. 7.
There will be no change to parking garage rates, but hours of operation will be extended starting Nov. 1 to run 24 hours per day.
