Salem Votes 2021: Preliminary Election Guide

The Sept. 14 preliminary election is Tuesday. Here's what to know in Salem.

SALEM, MA — There will be preliminary elections for mayor and city council in Wards 1, 2, 4 and 7 in Salem on Tuesday, Sept. 14.

The preliminary will determine which candidates move on to the general election in November. Races with more than two candidates require preliminary elections. Mayor is the only position on the ballot Tuesday in Wards 3, 5 and 6.

Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Due to the changes to the Ward 2 voting location, arrangements have been made with the Council on Aging to provide transportation to and from St. Peter's Church, 24 St. Peter Street to the Community Life Center.

Scheduled pickup times are 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Masks must be worn by all residents riding on the van at all times.

For seniors and those with disabilities needing rides to the polls from their homes should call the Council on Aging at 978-744-0924 x 43008.
