SALEM, MA —Work at Salem Willows is set to resume next week with the completion of Phase 1 of the Signature Park Project on course for completion by Memorial Day.

The city said much of the remaining work is "temperature-sensitive" but paving work can begin next week until the weather becomes suitable for final paving, painting of the tennis and pickleball courts, grass seeding, restoration of the temporary parking area and final planting.

"The project is on track to have the parking area and the majority of work complete prior to Memorial Day," the city said.

The city said the old Willows Pier is in the process of being replaced after the old pier was removed this winter.

"The deteriorated structure had become a safety hazard and a navigational hazard as timber components continue to break off and wash away," the city said.
