Salem Woman Faces Charges After Calling for Dog Owner's Arrest: Report

Police say the woman caused a scene while calling for the arrest of a dog owner who left his dog in his vehicle while running an errand.

SALEM, MA — A Salem woman was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace after police say she prevented a dog owner who left his dog in his car from leaving and demanded his arrest, reports the Salem News.

According to the report, Laurie "Lorelei" Stathopoulous, 56, of Salem pleaded not guilty in Salem District Court Tuesday on a charge of disturbing the peace. The owner of the dog told police that when the dog's owner returned to his car, Stathopoulous and a co-worker attempted to prevent him from entering his vehicle and stood in front of his vehicle as he was trying to leave.

The Salem News reports that when police arrived at the vehicle, the dog greeted them and was not panting. Police say that Stathopoulous blocked the door of the vehicle while the owner was trying to re-enter the vehicle after being told he was free to leave.
