The annual bonfire is a great way to dispose of your Christmas tree.

SALEM, MA — Looking for a way to dispose of your Christmas tree? How about taking it to the annual bonfire.

Salem residents will flock to Dead Horse Beach for the city's 14th annual Christmas Tree bonfire Friday night at Dead Horse Beach. A city announcement says that if you want to ensure your tree is a part of the bonfire, you can take it to the beach up until the bonfire.

“The Bonfire is a true Salem tradition,” said Mayor Kimberly Driscoll in a statement. “I look forward to it every year, as I know many Salem residents do, as well. I’m especially excited to welcome the Cookie Monstah team to this year’s celebration, for an added sweet treat during the event.”

The Gathering will be handing out free hot chocolate and playing music, and this year, the Cookie Monstah food truck will be selling their cookies.
