Suspect In Salem Could Not Tell A Lie
A Rhode Island man told a Salem police officer there were "several pounds of marijuana" in his car during a routine traffic stop.

SALEM, MA -- What started out as a routine traffic stop turned into a major drug bust for Salem Police Monday night. Police arrested Scott Burch, 45, of Rhode Island and recovered an estimated $18,000 in drugs and paraphernalia after Burch told Officer Tim Beaupre there were "several pounds of marijuana" in his vehicle. Beaupre had initially pulled Burch over after seeing him commit a marked lanes violation.
Turbo, the Salem Police department's dog, and Officer Sean Andrus found more than just the several pounds of marijuana Burch copped to. They also found THC cartridges, marijuana edibles, a white powder believed to be cocaine, cash, and other items related to drug use.
Burch was charged with Marked Lanes Violation, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, OUI – Liquor, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Substance (subsequent offense), Possession of Class B Substance (subsequent offense) and Open Container of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle.
