Swampscott Arts Association Summer Show at "The Gallery at Grosvenor Park"

Judging the summer show at “The Gallery at Grosvenor Park” was well-known artist Robert Ferris. Robert attended Mass College of Art, and studied with Lynn artist Charles Impel. He started Wood End Studio, which is now located at the Lydia Pinkham Building in Lynn. He is a member of Oil Painters of America, North Shore Arts Association, and several other art associations. His work hangs at the Impulse Gallery in Provincetown, MA. He has taught and demonstrated at a number of art associations. Robert is offering the Wood End Studio Award for excellence in oil painting, with a certificate towards an oil painting lesson at his studio.

Ellen Grandpre’s "Overlooking the Sea” won the Wood End Studio Award for excellence in oil painting, good color sense and handling of medium.  

Ron Harrison’s “On The Reach” was highly praised by Ferris, stating that Harrison displayed great drawing skills, knowledge of medium, and good composition.

Karen Hosking’s “Adirondack Chairs at Oqunit” was also commended for good composition, has qualities of a painting, not obviously computer enhanced…..good eye!

Jeannette Yeaple’s “Family Cabin” was given an honorable mention for good drawing skills and knowledgeable use of medium.

Joan Johnson’s “A winter sunset” was given an honorable mention for brave use of bold color combinations.

Sheila Farren Billings’ “Relax” was given an honorable mention for being fun, creative, playful and well-constructed.

Janet Juel Cook’s “Fisherman’s beach in Swampscott in the 50’s” was given an honorable mention for good composition and play of values.
