• I guess they call them storm petrels for a reason (capeandislands.org) — A lingering nor'easter turned the waters off Sandwich and the Cape Cod Canal into a rare birding hotspot, with hundreds of storm-petrels and other seabirds passing within arm's reach. Local birders also logged jaegers, fulmars, skuas, and thousands of gannets from nearby beaches, making this one of the most memorable seabird shows Sandwich-area watchers have seen in years.
