• Scituate Board Backs $5M for Gates Apartments and $3.8M Pier 44 Park, Both on Borrowed CPC Money (southshore.news subscription) — Scituate's Select Board is backing $5 million in Community Preservation funds for the Gates Apartments senior housing project and $3.8 million for the proposed Pier 44 harbor park, both relying heavily on borrowed money. These borrowing plans now head to the October 19 Special Town Meeting, where residents will decide whether to support expanded elderly housing and new waterfront access despite concerns about debt, parking, and design.
