Obituary: Gertrude L. (Bacon) Gaudreau

Mrs. Gertrude L. (Bacon) Gaudreau was the co-owner of Pioneer Food Store on Fulton Street in Fall River.

Gertrude L. (Bacon) Gaudreau, 93, a resident at the Swan Brook Assisted Living who was formerly of Somerset passed away on Friday May 31, 2013 at the Fall River Jewish Home in Fall River. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Gaudreau.

Gertrude was born in Fall River the daughter of the late Edgar and Dorilla (Lariviere) Bacon. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School class of 1937. She raised her family and also along with her husband co-owned the Pioneer Food Store on Fulton Street in Fall River for many years. Mrs. Gaudreau as a communicant of Saint Thomas More Church in Somerset.

Survivors are a daughter: Diane A. Gavigan and her husband Michael of Somerset; a son: Denis R. Gaudreau and his wife Patrice of Somerset,; two grandchildren: Megan and Robert; two sisters: Pauline Messier of Somerset; Lucille Pratt of Somerset; and a nephew: Paul Messier of California. She was the sister of the late Annette Patry.

The family would like to thank the staff at Swan Book Assisted Living and the Fall River Jewish Home for the care and compassion they provided to Gertrude over the years.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals , 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Saint Thomas More Church 386 Luther Ave, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7 p.m
