SHARON, MA — Visitors to Veterans Memorial Park Beach will have fewer parking spaces available on two days as construction continues at the site.
The west side of the beach parking lot will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 12, and Monday, Aug. 17, weather permitting, according to a town announcement. The closure affects the section closest to Gunhouse Street when entering through the main entrance.
The beach will remain open and parking will be available in the rest of the lot, the town said.
The work follows plans to improve parking and drainage at the property, which is also listed as 82 Gunhouse St. The project calls for porous asphalt, drainage improvements and shoreline landscaping, according to February meeting minutes from the Sharon Conservation Commission.
Veterans Memorial Park Beach is a resident beach on Beach Street off Pond Street. It includes seasonal lifeguards, a bathhouse, docks, restrooms and a concession stand.
