Cottage PTO Hosts Back to School Cookout

On Sunday, September 9, the Cottage Street School Parent-Teacher Organization hosted a cookout on the recently enhanced playground to welcome back new and returning students and families. Close to 500 adults and children attended.

“Our family moved to Sharon over the summer, and we have been surprised and delighted by how active and welcoming the Cottage Street School community has been,” said Colin Van Dyke, who came to the cookout with his wife and three children. “The Back-to-School cookout was another great opportunity to meet other families and to see our kids playing with their new friends.”

Principal Mr. Madden and Assistant Principal Mr. Zides were present as families feasted on hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers and delicious watermelon donated by Ward’s Berry Farm in Sharon.

Meg Dussault, co-chair of the CSS PTO said, “The cookout was a huge success, as it accomplished the goal of creating good friends over good food. It was a wonderful experience to see so many old and new Cottage families gather together and have a relaxing meal, while students took advantage of the perfect weather and played the day away on the playground.”
