Basil is a very cute and nice guinea pig. He is about 1 or 2 years old. Guinea pigs need a clean cage, a healthy diet including hay, fresh vegetables and a little treat of fruit or carrot. Basil enjoys guinea pig chew toys. He is a good pig and never bites, but he is shy. He will be happiest in a home with a family who understands that being picked up and held is very scary for him. Basil is mainly white with a little beige markings. White guinea pigs struggle to find families to adopt them. His former owner had multiple guinea pigs and was no longer able to care for them. Basil was always housed separately and appears to be perfectly content as a single guinea pig. Call the Neponset Valley Humane Society at 781-769-1990 or email nvhumanesociety@gmail.com to arrange a meeting with Basil. Other Humane Society News: NVHS volunteers are currently caring for a friendly pair of orange tabby kittens and several lovable adult house cats. NVHS hosts affordable clinics for all cats. Male cat neuters are $75 and female cat spays are $85. Neighborhood and feral cats are free. Financial assistance is available for any cat owner unable to afford the surgery. Call for an appointment. Visit neponsethumane.org to see all the pets in need of adopters.
