Cape Woman Charged In Sharon Crash That Killed Woman, Dog

Irma Sherman, 79,​ was reportedly charged with vehicular homicide and claimed the crash was an accident.

SHARON, MA — A Brewster woman is facing charges after police said she crashed into another car on Interstate 95, killing a Rockport woman and her dog. Irma Sherman, 79, was charged with vehicular homicide and failure to stay within marked lanes. Sherman told The Cape Cod Times the crash was an accident and that she wasn't texting or drinking.

Georganna Elheneidy, 73, who was driving her Jaguar northbound near exit 8 before the crash on on Jan. 28. Just before 2:30 p.m., Sherman's Volkswagen Passet collided with Elheneidy, causing her to spin across the two left lanes and hit a tree, killing her and her dog.

Sherman will be arraigned in Stoughton District Court on June 26.
