Coronavirus: Sharon Declares State Of Emergency
Sharon closes all town buildings, cancels all non-essential town programs and activities, until further notice.

SHARON, MA — The Town of Sharon has declared a state of emergency amid the coronavirus pandemic. As part of the declaration, all town offices and buildings will be closed and steps are being taken to cancel all non-essential public meetings.
The closures will take effect starting on Tuesday.
Sharon police are restricting access to the station amid the coronavirus pandemic. Police are asking residents only enter the station lobby in the case of an emergency and will temporarily allow officers to take reports over the phone if they do not require an in-person home visit.

While Sharon police said they will always respond to 911 emergency calls, examples of reports that may be taken over the phone include calls for advice, credit card and identity theft and animal matters that are not a threat to public safety. Sharon police said no fingerprints will be taken at the station until further notice. Police can also no longer accept food donations until further notice. Those with questions are asked to call 781-784-1587 rather than going to the station.
"As you know, it is critically important that first responders remain healthy in order to respond to any and all needs of the community," Sharon police said. "These are certainly unprecedented times. However, be assured, that the men and women of the Sharon Police Department are willing to serve in any capacity that will bring some comfort and peace. Please check in, via anemail or a phone call, on your neighbors or elderly friends as to what their needs may be. Both police and fire department personnel are available to help if we are made aware of such concerns."
