Double-Pawed Ruby Enjoys Wrapping Her Paws Around Arms When Petted
Meet this week's Sharon Patch Pet of the Week, courtesy of the Neponset Valley Humane Society.
Ruby is a pretty white cat with double paws.
She is very friendly, social, playful and affectionate. She enjoys attention and is
comfortable being picked up and cuddled. She has a very endearing habit of wrapping her paws around an arm when someone pets her, as if to say, "Don't stop." She likes to cuddle up right next to her foster mom, and purrs with contentment. She is sometimes very kitten-like and silly, and loves interactive play.
Ruby is about 1 to 2 years old. She will do best as the only pet in her new home since she loves people, but does not enjoy the companionship of the other felines in her foster home.

Ruby was a stray. She was not spayed, and her health was severely compromised when she was first rescued. The cause of her problems appears to have been a flea allergy. Many cats are allergic to fleas, and even one flea can cause them severe pain.
Ruby has been in an NVHS foster home for several weeks now. She is spayed and flea-free. She loves being an indoor cat and so her allergy should not cause her anymore problems. Call the Neponset Valley Humane Society at 781-769-1990 or email nvhumanesociety@gmail.com to arrange a meeting with
Ruby.

The next NVHS low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats is Tuesday, Aug. 7 in Norwood. Male cat neuters are $75. Female cat spays are $85. Neighborhood and feral cats are free. Financial assistance is available for any cat owner for whom these reduced prices would truly be a financial hardship. Call for information and an appointment. In addition to the many friendly house cats and kittens, NVHS volunteers are also caring for a pair of barn cats, a few guinea pigs and a house rabbit all in need of families. Visit neponsethumane.org to see all the pets waiting to be adopted.
The Neponset Valley Humane Society is an all volunteer, all foster care
charitable organization dedicated to helping companion animals and feral cats.
