Eagles Compete at Hockomock League Championship Meet

On May 19, the Sharon Eagles ran at the Hockomock League Championship Meet at North Attleboro High School.

Last weekend, the Sharon Eagles took part in the Hockomock League Track and Field Championship Meet and earned some high finishes to start the postseaon.

The boys finished in fourth place out of 12 teams while the girls took 11th place.

Simon Max finished second in the javelin (170-04), losing on a tie breaker to North Attleboro’s Austin Renzi.  James Gildersleeve also earned a second place finish in the 400 (51.43),

Brian Mukasa finished in third in the high jump (6-02) and Jared Fogel took third in the 400 hurdles (59.63).

Evantz Elisma’s 24.15 was good enough for fifth in the 200.

In the girls’ meet, Katie Lowerre finished fifth in the 800 (2:29.21), Caroline Sun took seventh in the mile (5:27.83), and Rita Kushner jumped 5-2 in the high jump for second place.

After winning the last 10 Hockomock League Track and Field Championship Meets, the Hornets boys' track team did not come home with a first place trophy, finishing in second place behind a strong North Attleboro team.

With strong performances in the throws and jumps, the Red Rocketeers scored 150.5 points. The Hornets placed second with 149 points and King Philip finished third with 77 points. 

In the girls' meet, the Hornets picked up their first title since 2011, scoring 122 points. North Attleboro finished in second place with 104.166 points and Oliver Ames ended the meet in third place with 88.166 points.
