HESSCO Elder Services will host a three-day Nursing Home Ombudsman Program training from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 25, June 27 and June 29, at 1 Merchant St.
Staff from the state Executive Office of Elder Affairs will provide the training.
Trained volunteer ombudsmen are advocates who work to protect the rights of nursing and rest home residents. They ensure that residents are treated with respect and dignity and that the care provided allows the residents to achieve and maintain quality in their daily living and environment. The ombudsman visits with the residents allowing them to observe, identify, investigate and resolve complaints by, or on behalf of the residents.
