The Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary will hold these events in November:
- Free Star Party: 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. Join local astronomers and view the night sky through their big telescopes. The event is ongoing, so drop in for the entire time, or just some of the evening. Park in the Nature Center lot and bring a flashlight to follow the marked, self-guided path to find the viewing field. This program is cancelled if sky conditions are cloudy; call 781-784-5691 x8103 after 6 p.m. for a recorded message about the status of the program. Admission is free.
- Sunday Saunters: 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. There will be a relaxed, on-the-trail interpretative walk. Walks are cancelled in inclement weather; call prior to attending if the weather is questionable. Admission is free.
- Kid Art: Session 1, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9; Session 2, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9. The fee per session is $8 for members, $11 for non-members. Try a variety of art, including painting and drawing. Stories and a short outdoor walk will complete this program. The program is for ages 4 to 6.
- Raccoons: Session 1, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10; Session 2, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. Discover how this nocturnal bandit lives and is part of Moose Hill's nightlife. Search for raccoon tracks and enjoy a story about this often misunderstood animal. The fee per session is $8 for members, $11 for non-members. The program is for ages 4 to 6.
- Talkin' Turkey: Session 1, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17; Session 2, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. The fee per session is $8 for members, $11 for non-members. Discover how amazing wild turkeys are and explore the forest for signs of this elusive bird. Gobble and strut while searching for a turkey's meal. Make a turkey that could be dinner table’s centerpiece. The program is for ages 4 to 6.
- Nature Sounds: Session 1, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30; Session 2, 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30. Listen for the chatter of red squirrels and the tweeting of birds. Make a musical instrument to join in the music of the forest. Discover if an animal's ear size make a difference. The fee per session is $8 for members, $11 for non-members. The program is for ages 4 to 6.
- Art in the Park: This program is for ages 6 to 11 and runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Nov. 17. Each class will feature a variety of art media for budding artists to try based on the topics listed above. Each class may feature outdoor time, so dress for the weather. The fee per session is $9 for members, $12 for non-members.
- Kitchen Science: This program is for ages 6 to 11 and runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Nov. 10. Use items from a typical kitchen to help in understanding the scientific method. Chemical Reactions will feature experiments that fizz, pop, and ooze. Straws and Strings will feature exciting experiments with the items in the title. Hot and Cold will feature making home-made ice cream in a baggie and hot topics. Some experiments will be outdoors, so dress for the weather. The fee per session is $9 for members, $12 for non-members.
- Wednesday Outings: This program is for ages 6 to 11 and runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Nov. 9. Hike, explore, observe, play games, and have fun while exploring Moose Hill. Participants will help decide the group's destination for these monthly investigative walks. Dress for active outdoor exploration. The fee per session is $9 for members, $12 for non-members.
- Knee-High Naturalists runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon each date. Each session includes stories, crafts, indoor circle time, and outdoor nature play. Discover "nature playgrounds" while learning about the theme of the week. The Fall 2011 Session 1 runs Mondays: Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28. The fee for the Monday Fall Session is $247 for members, $305 for non-members. Session 2 runs Tuesdays: Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. The program is for ages 3 and 4.
