Conversations at the Meetinghouse will present "Our Prisons: Rehabilitation Or Debilitation? Some Personal Perceptions and Reflections From Three Former Inmates" at 7 p.m. Friday in the Unitarian Church of Sharon.
The speakers will include:Mel Springer (former director of
adult basic education for Massachusetts Prisons, administrator of the Norfolk Fellowship and director of the Work Connection); Alice Springer (former adult education teacher Southeastern Correctional, Bridgewater and
MCI-Framingham); and prison volunteers in the Bay State (Norfolk) Fellowship including Janet Schmidt, Valerie White, Judith Philips, Mary Nelson andDavid Nelson.
What is going on in our prisons today? Are there opportunities for rehabilitation? What works, what doesn't? Here is an opportunity to hear and question people with firsthand knowledge of the correctional system in
Massachusetts.
