The Sharon Public Library and H.U.G.S. Sharon will present "Telling Amy's Story: A Documentary and Discussion," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 at the library.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. To mark this campaign, the Sharon Public Library and HUGS (Help Us Get Safe) Sharon are partnering to present "Telling Amy's Story," a documentary tracing the downward spiral of one woman's tragedy.
The film chronicles the time leading up to the death of Amy Homan McGee, a mother of two who was shot and killed in State College, Pa. by her husband Vincent.
Following the screening, the program will present speakers Dr. Deborah Cohan, whose studies are focused on gender issues and domestic violence, and Harriet Reichart, the domestic violence officer of the Sharon Police Department. They will speak from their respective perspectives and then facilitate a discussion with the audience.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. For further information, contact either Sue Robinson of HUGS at 781-784-7944 or Barbra Nadler, library director at bnadler@ocln.org or 781-784-1578.
