Sharon Performing Artists Association's 20th Annual Youth Concert Series Continues

The Sharon Performing Artists Association's 20th Annual Youth Concert series begins with two concerts on Saturday and one on Sunday.

The concerts will be held at the Unitarian Church of Sharon. Admission per concert is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, and $5 for children. Performers and teachers are admitted free.

The concert at 4 p.m. Saturday features students from the Sharon Music Academy; director Tanya Schwartman, director playing piano, guitar, saxophone and violin; and two vocalists.

The concert at 7 p.m. Saturday features piano students from the studios of Maya Gurevich, Alexander Yablonsky and Lina Yen, a violin student of Daniela Rubinstein and a cello student of Mark Schroeder.  Many of the performers at these two concerts are preparing for the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association annual competition on May 12.

The 14th Annual Senior Recital will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Several seniors, including Emily Hu, clarinetist, Sophie Tollefson, pianist, Tal Heller, Leah Doolittle, Jill Sweetman, Peter Favazza, Rebekah Daly, and guest Angelique Scully, vocalists, will be playing and singing solos. 

In addition, an ensemble of Alison Collins, Matt Goldstein, Ben Hirsh and Vani Sundaram will sing a piece by Eric Whitacre.  The Sharon High School Madrigal Choir, directed by Will Doolittle and Tal Heller, will perform pieces by Gibbons, de Victoria, Willan and Rheinberger. The Sharon High School A Cappella Choir, directed by Matt Goldstein and Josh Levitt, will be singing three pieces arranged by Matt Goldstein. Accompanists include Susanne Osberg, Giovanni Longo, Will Doolittle and Sophie Tollefson. The soloists' teachers include Liz Leehey, Tanya Schwartzman, Andrea DelGiudice and Giovanni Longo.
