A Festival of World Music and Dance at A Taste of Sharon's Diversity
Enjoy a variety of music and dance from around the world by local performers!
The Lions Clubs International and the International Rotary Foundation are both celebrating 100 years throughout this year. Their “gift” to the town in commemoration of this milestone can be seen in the pole banners that are going up throughout the center of town. While both clubs knew how diverse and special the Town of Sharon truly is – it is amazing to see it represented in the banners. If you don't find a banner representing your heritage, you have not been forgotten! The "All are welcome here" banner is there to cover any and all cultures not shown on individual banners.
In addition, The Sharon Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Sharon are delighted to invite you to a celebration on Sunday, May 21 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Mark your calendars now for A Taste of Sharon’s Diversity – it is sure to be an event enjoyed by all ages. Admission to this event is $20 per adult, $10 for teens age 13-18 and seniors age 65+, children age 12 and younger are free. All fees during the event go to offset the cost of the celebration and the banners that are hung throughout town center.
Spend your afternoon with us and enjoy the many talented performers at the world festival of music and dance held in the auditorium. Listen to the beautiful sounds of the Sharon Chinese Gu-Zheng Group, the music of Zimbabwe with the Tungurura Marimba Ensemble, a medley of Indian Folk Music from the RASA School of Music, a trip around the world with performances from students from the Sharon Music Academy, a variety of musical styles from Temple Israel’s Shir Rhythm a cappella, and a performance of music from Spain, Eastern Europe, and Mexico by the Sharon High School Concert Band. The musical performances are intertwined with step dancing from the Haley School of Irish Dance, Yi ethnic group dance from China with The Spice Moms, Bollywood style dancing with the Indian American Association of Sharon Dancers, and classical Indian dance by Arthi Vijayakumar.
