Greeting guys and gals! Its that time of year again: the Sharon High School Theater Company is about to showcase its first musical of the year! After months of hard work, this season opens with quirky comedy Hairspray!. This off-the-wall show features Sharon High’s most talented singers and actors, supported by amazing lighting, set design, and costumes. As the curtain rises, it’s 1962, and plus-sized, high-haired teenager Tracy Turnblad sets out to dance her way onto Baltimore’s most popular dance special, The Corny Collins Show. After being rejected by the villainous Velma Von Tussle and ignored by dancing dreamboat Link Larkin, Tracy is thrown in detention with the African-American students in the school. But her misfortune leads her to a new friend, Seaweed J. Stubbs, who pulls her into a world she never knew existed. With a newfound confidence, and some rocking moves from Seaweed, Tracy finally wins her spot on The Corny Collins Show. Determined to make her time in the spotlight meaningful, Tracy petitions for racial integration of The Corny Collins Show. But can a big girl with big dreams, and even bigger hair, change the world and still have time to win the boy of her dreams? Find out for yourself when you check out Sharon High School Theater Company’s Hairspray! The fun begins with performances on November 17th, 18th, and 19th at 7:00pm, and continues on November 20th at 2:00pm!
