Herb Chambers Supports Arredondo Foundation Turkey Giveaway

Sharon, MA (November 11, 2018) – The Herb Chambers Companies, New England’s largest automotive dealership group, is proud to partner with the Arredondo Family Foundation for its 4th Annual Turkey Giveaway which has four different locations throughout Massachusetts including Dorchester, Fitchburg and Westfield. The fourth Turkey Giveaway takes place at Herb Chambers Lexus of Sharon on Sunday Nov. 18th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Carlos and Mélida Arredondo founded the Arredondo Family Foundation in 2015 based on work they began doing in 2005 aiding veterans and military families. Carlos is known by many as “the man in the cowboy hat” after his heroic efforts to aid victims following the Boston Marathon bombing. The Arredondo’s have dealt with personal tragedy losing Carlos’ oldest son Alex, a United States Marine in the war in Iraq in 2004. Carlos’ youngest son, Brian, was lost to suicide in 2011. Mélida is their step-mother. The Arredondo Family Foundation was launched in 2015 to empower military families, friends and the community in the prevention of military related suicides and to provide education and support services to military families.

The annual Arredondo Family Foundation Turkey Giveaway is open to active duty, veterans, military families, and families of the fallen who are experiencing economic hardships. To register, go to www.arredondofoundation.org. Once registered, families will receive a food packet containing a turkey, vegetables, cranberry sauce and potatoes or a turkey and gift card.

The Herb Chambers Companies is doing its part to help this Thanksgiving tradition thrive. In addition to providing a host location, Herb Chambers is donating $10,000 to help make this events possible. Each year before Thanksgiving, Chambers gives a turkey to every one of his 2,500 employees, many of which end up being donated. This year, he asked that any of the employees who would normally donate their turkey consider contributing to the Arredondo Family Foundation. As a result, 224 people said yes, and the monetary equivalent of those turkeys has been applied toward this donation.
