Letter To Editor: Thank You Sharon Memorial Day 2019 Volunteers

Paul Bergeron, the director of Sharon's Department of Veteran Services, sent a letter to the editor to thank Memorial Day volunteers.

SHARON, MA — The following letter to the editor is from Paul Bergeron, the director of Sharon's Department of Veteran Services. Bergeron sent the letter as a thanks to those who helped with the town's Memorial Day 2019 activities:

Veterans and citizens of Sharon and I compliment all who were involved in the Town of Sharon 2019 Memorial Day activities conducted on Friday, May 24 and Sunday, May 26, 2019.

Below are the names of the individuals who participated in decorating veteran grave sites for the 2019 Memorial Day in Sharon, MA.

In addition, Boy Scout Troop 53 members placed U.S. flags on smaller cemetery gravesites such as High Plain Road. The Sharon Department of Public Works Forest and Grounds staff mounted U.S. flags in and around the Town of Sharon center. They also placed wreaths at designated monuments. Further, they obtained and delivered small flower plants so the below named volunteers could place a flower along with a U.S. Flag on veteran gravesites.

Sunday activities held at Rock Ridge Cemetery and in front of the Town Hall building were attended and supported by: Canton American Legion Band, Sharon Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sharon American Legion Post, Sharon American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the Sharon American Legion Post, and Sharon American Legion Riders. In addition, the Sharon Board of Selectmen, Sharon Firefighters and Sharon Police attended and marched in the short parade.

Boy Scout cubs and Girl Scouts were also involved.

Essays written and read by Olivia Nau, Jaime Webster and Josie Cunningham were very well received by those in attendance. We also compliment all others who made the time to be present.
