MASS AUDUBON'S ANNUAL BIRD-A-THON FUNDRAISER SET FOR MAY 13-14
Hundreds of Birders Set to Identify Species in 24-Hour Challenge to Support Conservation
Sharon, MA—Hundreds of bird enthusiasts throughout the state will vie to spot the most species in a 24-hour period during Mass Audubon’s annual Bird-a-thon competition and fundraiser, taking place Friday and Saturday, May 13-14.
Over more than 30 years, Bird-a-thon has become Mass Audubon’s biggest annual fundraiser and a popular celebration of birdlife for members and other visitors to Moose Hill.
Bird-a-thon 2016 organizers are hoping that supporters surpass last year’s record fundraising total of $219,547.20.

“This fun event is appropriate for bird lovers of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds,” said Sanctuary Director, Karen Stein “helping participants to connect with nature while also raising crucial funds for Mass Audubon’s initiatives and wildlife sanctuaries, including ours.”
Since 1983, thousands of dedicated supporters and team members have raised more than $2 million to support the respected conservation organization’s sanctuaries and programs across the Commonwealth.

People who do not compete in the field can still participate in various ways, including as “Bird-a-thon Boosters”, to support teams or individuals by fundraising. Any way you participate, Bird-a-thon is fun!
