Owls-February 7th

Owls are one of the top predators at Moose Hill. Begin with a brief indoor presentation about what makes owls such amazing hunters and then head outside to search for them. While on the trail call and listen for any responses while exploring the sanctuary with your own night vision. In the event of extreme cold, the walk may be shortened.

Brunch with the Eagles-February 12th

Bald Eagles can be found flying over open water in search of food during the wintertime. One of the best places to find them is along the Connecticut River. Join Doug Williams, Director at Stony Brook, and Karen Stein, Director at Moose Hill for a trip along the Connecticut River from its outlet into Long Island Sound up stream to Haddam CT. See spectacular views of the eagles as they perch on trees along the river at such locations as Gillette Castle State Park near the Goodspeed Opera House. Then relax and warm up as we enjoy a leisurely and delicious brunch at the famous Griswold Inn in Essex, CT. After our meal we will walk down to the dock in Essex for one last look at the river before heading back home.

Price includes guides, travel and brunch (non-alcoholic beverages). Bring camera, binoculars, a spotting scope if you have one, and your favorite bird app or book. Please plan to dress in layers and wear appropriate winter shoes for your comfort as we will have time in a heated van as well as time outside along the river.

We will travel as a group by van leaving from and returning to Stony Brook in Norfolk. If you would prefer to meet at Moose Hill at 7:30 am and travel with the van to Stony Brook to collect the rest of the group, please leave a comment when registering and we will confirm. Snow date will be Sunday, March 5.
