"Nature in Your Neighborhood" Program presented at Walpole Library on May 18

Mass Audubon’s Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary is excited to present Nature in Your Neighborhood. This two part series will start with a fascinating introduction to natural history; focusing on the animals, plants, and accessible natural communities common to our area. The first of this two part series will be offered at the Walpole Library, May 18 at 6:30PM. The second part of the series is a 1½ - 2 hour interpreted walk at Adams Farm. Town residents will be introduced to the open spaces within the community. These protected areas are available for everyone to enjoy and appreciate. This program helps to highlight why they are important, how they are being protected and some optimal times to enjoy them.

The presenter is Jack Lash, a retired MA ecologist and educator for Mass Audubon with more than 30 years’ experience. Jack served on the Franklin Conservation Commission and understands the importance of protecting our irreplaceable natural resources. Mass Audubon has helped preserve more than 35,000 acres of wildlife habitat throughout the state and helps people of all backgrounds connect with the natural world around them.

These programs will foster an appreciation of local natural communities and the vital role they play in maintaining the ecological integrity of our ecosystems. Participants will also be introduced to the important roles played by Mass Audubon, Conservation Commissions, Local Land Trusts, State Agencies and other groups in protecting our natural resources.
